There are two white grapes grown in Burgundy; one is famous, the other is not. The best known variety is Chardonnay, which makes up 93% of white vines. The other, which has long hidden in the shadows, is Aligoté. It has recently seen a surge in popularity thanks to its lean, crisp style that is sometimes described as ‘mineral’. This is a classic example.

Wine CategoryLight-bodied, fresh whites
Tasting NotesSubtle aromas of red apple, lemon and wet wool. Light-bodied, it moves fast in the mouth, but has some firmness and intensity nonetheless and a touch of chalkiness. Bright and fresh with moderate acidity and a stony, dry finish.
