`Cuvée Villages` Naoussa Xinomavro

  • Regular price £18.95

Greek wines are having a bit of a moment, and it’s well deserved – they make some beautifully distinctive wines, often at remarkably reasonable prices. This is a classic Xinomavro (pronounced ‘zinomavro’) – it has a complex aroma alongside powerful acidity and tannins. Naoussa, in the hills of Macedonia in northern Greece, is home to some of the best examples. One of the best value wines we’ve tasted all year.

Wine CategoryMedium-bodied, earthy, structured reds

Tasting NotesPale in colour, which is typical for this Greek variety. It has a lovely combination of red cherry, orange peel and dried herbs, perfumed and resinous. Light- to medium-bodied, but has big impact on the palate from its intense acidity and grippy, denim-textured tannins. Well balanced, very classic, very food-friendly and great value.
