Saperavi

  • Regular price £19.00

As the most widely planted grape in the cradle of viticulture, you’d think Saperavi might be more famous. It’s certainly worth getting to know, particularly if you like robust, powerful reds. The Bedoba winery dates back to 1737, and they combine ancient and modern winemaking techniques to make a range of attention-grabbing wines.

Wine CategoryPowerful, ripely fruited, oaky reds

Tasting NotesTarry black fruits, ash and liquorice make for a very assertive, dark aromatic display. Coffee bean aromas from the oak bring some lift. Very full-bodied, with a touch of sweetness and warm spice to the thick, black fruits. Very full-bodied, very concentrated, with sweet vanilla, coconut and cinnamon to close. A muscular, powerful wine that will stand up to punchy, flavoursome dishes. Great value.
